A metropolitan hideaway, The Lyall balances opulence - mini galleries featuring original local art - with Australian practicality - a washer/dryer with powder for two loads and a freezer stocked with Melbourne-based Jock's ice-cream.

Under floor heating in your bathroom and velour bathrobes make you feel you're already in The Lyall Spa. The Spa, which offers hydrotherapy, includes eight treatment rooms and a state of the art gymnasium.

Shopping is a sport in Melbourne, so arm yourself with advice from the staff and their Privilege Shopping Card. Toorak Road and Chapel Street are literally around the corner from The Lyall and public transport will get you to Bridge Road in Richmond or the city in under 15 minutes.

The staff at The Lyall are happy to recommend great South Yarra restaurants. The nearby Jamon seats only 10 people but is a wonderful experience led by the owner/chef and France-Soir in Toorak Road is a must for contemporary French food and its extensive wine menu.
